Jason Jones

MD

Born in Iowa and raised in Sioux City, Dr. Jones pursued his undergraduate degree at Harvard College, graduating magna cum laude. He obtained his medical degree from New York University in New York City, followed by an internship in Medicine and Ophthalmology at the University of Utah. Dr. Jones completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Utah. Realizing that the Midwest provided him with the best setting to practice medicine, he returned to the area to join his father in practice and offer the latest advances in ophthalmology.

Dr. Jones focuses on advanced cataract extraction techniques, new Intraocular Lens (IOL) technologies, and novel prosthetic devices designed to assist complicated or unusual cataract surgeries. Additionally, he has extensive expertise in the clinical and surgical management of glaucoma. Dr. Jones has been a principal investigator for more than 30 FDA monitored clinical studies performed at Jones Eye Clinic. He teaches advanced cataract surgery techniques at the annual American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) as well as the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS). He was the honored guest lecturer at meetings in the United Kingdom, Canada, Italy, India, Japan, and Australia as well as across the United States. Dr. Jones has authored numerous peer-reviewed academic articles as well as a major textbook on cataract surgery.

Dr. Jones’ personal interests include skiing, hiking, travel, and digital photography.

Yian Jones

After finishing her residency at the University of Iowa—one of the country’s top ophthalmology programs for eye surgeons—Dr. Yian Jones discovered a passion for helping patients through plastic and reconstructive surgery of the face and eyelids. During her prestigious fellowship at the Center for Facial Appearances in Salt Lake City, Utah, Dr. Jones had the opportunity to work with the oculoplastic surgery pioneer Dr. Richard Anderson, giving her the expertise to perfect cutting-edge techniques for reconstructive and cosmetic surgeries for many facial and eyelid concerns.

Dr. Jones is a lifelong learner and contributor to academic journals. She has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and has written textbook chapters for eye surgery, most recently “Eyelids,” Clinical Eye Atlas, edited by Daniel Gold and Richard Lewis, Oxford University Press, Inc., 2011, 2nd edition. With a passion for academic and philanthropic pursuits, she serves as a sub-investigator in numerous FDA clinical trials and has joined two missions to villages in Mali and Ghana to provide much-needed surgical eye care.

Originally from Beijing, China, Dr. Jones moved with her family to Salt Lake City as a teenager. While in medical school, she met and fell in love with Iowa native Dr. Jason Jones, soon joining the team at Jones Eye Clinic. She is passionate about helping patients look and feel better through functional and cosmetic surgeries and nonsurgical treatments and is honored to bring her unique skills to the practice.

Christopher Diehl

O.D., F.A.A.O.

Chris is the Clinical Director of Jones Eye Clinic in Sioux City, Iowa. At Jones Eye Clinic, he provides peri-operative care, glaucoma management, and ocular surface disease treatments. He also serves as a clinical consultant for regional doctors on complex cases. Christopher has been a clinical investigator in several FDA clinical trials and has presented numerous lectures at American Academy of Optometry meetings. He has taught as a clinical instructor for optometry students at The Ohio State University and medical students at Des Moines University. He graduated Cum Laude from Illinois College of Optometry in 2011 and completed an Ocular Disease residency at the Cleveland VAMC in 2012.

He is happily married to his wife Beth. They have one son and three daughters. In addition to spending time with his family, Christopher enjoys oil painting and singing.
